Maastokartat application privacy policy

The application uses location services of the device to find out where the user is. Location tracking can be turned off from the application settings at any time. User location is shown as coordinates and as a marker on the map. Location information is also used in calculating distances to different places. If the user has started track recording, location samples are saved locally as a track. The application does not save any other information about the user.

The user can request sharing of his location to other users of the application. The location is then transmitted through a server to the selected users, which are identified by a random id. The server keeps the location in memory only for the time required for transmitting it onwards. The server does not save locations to any persistent storage.
